Our Financial Journey Started with a Simple Question

Why does managing money feel so complicated when the basics should be straightforward? That question sparked our mission to make budgeting accessible for every Canadian family.

Our Story

Back in 2019, Sarah and Marcus met at a community financial literacy workshop in Sherbrooke. Both had struggled with traditional budgeting methods that felt rigid and disconnected from real life. Sarah, coming from a background in financial planning, noticed how many people gave up on budgets within weeks. Marcus, with his teaching experience, saw the gap between complex financial advice and what people actually needed to know.

We started Waxosu-Hupapo because we believed budgeting shouldn't require a finance degree. Our approach focuses on practical, flexible methods that adapt to how people actually live and spend money. We've helped over 12,000 Canadians build sustainable money habits without the overwhelm that comes with traditional financial planning.

What Drives Us

Our mission is pretty straightforward: help Canadians build confidence with their money through practical budgeting education. We're not trying to make you rich overnight or sell you complex investment products. Instead, we focus on the foundation – understanding where your money goes and making intentional choices about how you spend it.

We envision a Canada where financial stress doesn't keep people awake at night, where families can make spending decisions without anxiety, and where budgeting feels like a helpful tool rather than a restrictive chore. Every resource we create, every program we develop, and every interaction we have is guided by this vision of financial peace of mind for everyday Canadians.

She developed our signature "Budget Breathing Room" approach after watching too many clients abandon rigid budgets. When she's not creating resources, she's probably experimenting with new ways to make spreadsheets less intimidating.
